It’s fair to ask if we’re truly living in the 2010s when you see the hottest trends out there – tie-dye, high-waist jeans, and other staples of the 1960s and 1970s. There’s another trend that confirms that the 1960s are back: lava lamp nails.
Even if you’re a fan of simple, natural nails, you must admit this looks spectacular. The lava lamp nails were created by nail artist Liam Peter and they are rapidly going viral as we speak.
“Have wanted to do something like this for like a year and finally did it,” Peter wrote on Instagram.
“Layering jelly and neon gel polishes gives depth and makes it seem as though the blobs are really flowing around,” the artist told Allure. “The real star, though, is the sunlight. Just like with holographic effects, these come alive when the sun hits the nail.”
