This Strawberry Midi Dress is the Dress of the Summer

Every summer, there seems to be a dress that takes over our Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, and this summer, it happens to be “The Strawberry Dress” by Lirika Matoshi. The tea dress costs $490 and it’s the perfect dress for any girly girl—it’s made of pink tulle, with a deep V-neckline, ruffles along the hem, a cinched waist, and red sequin strawberry embellishments.

In fact the dress has even become a viral hit with memes, tweets, and videos of people making knockoffs of the dress.

The dress was designed by Matoshi in July 2019 and as soon as she posted it on Instagram, it became a huge hit. Back in January, model Tess Holliday wore a custom version of it to the Grammy and she referred to the look as “If Strawberry Shortcake & Lana Del Rey had a baby.”

Matoshi didn’t expect the dress sales to go up during the pandemic and the dress is currently the best selling dress in the collection. There’s even a coordinating face mask!

“Most of the people who buy the dress right now, they don’t know where they’re going to wear it but like to wear it at home,” Matoshi said. “I wouldn’t know where to wear it. I haven’t worn a dress since the beginning of the pandemic,” she added.

One of the best things about the dress is that it’s available up to a size 20, which isn’t the case for most designer brands. The dress also fits in perfectly with the cottagecore trends that’s been having a major moment during the pandemic.
