USWNT star striker Alex Morgan is no longer a member of Tottenham Hotspur. Morgan parted ways with the English club on Monday and is expected to resume her career in the United States.

Morgan departs Tottenham after playing five games with the club and scoring two goals.

“I will be forever grateful to the Club, my team-mates and Spurs supporters for taking such good care of me and my family,” said Morgan in a statement. “From the moment I arrived in London, I realized I was part of a first-class organization, one that helped provide me the opportunity to immerse myself back into the game I love.”

Morgan’s exit doesn’t come as a surprise, considering that the 31-year-old player made the move to England in order to regain fitness after giving birth in May. She also publicly stated that she doesn’t intend to stay in Europe long term and instead wants to play in the U.S. and contribute to the development of NSWL.

The most likely destination for Alex Morgan in 2021 is Orlando Pride as the club still holds her rights. She played 53 games with Orlando between 2016 and 2020, scoring 18 goals in the process.

Morgan also made 170 appearances for the United States women’s national team since 2010 and was part of the FIFA World Cup-winning teams in 2015 and 2019. She has 107 goals in international games.
