In the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, when everyone was confined to their homes, Netflix’s Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness broke viewing records world-over and became a phenomenon of sorts. Tiger King focused on the eccentric life of zookeeper and convicted felon Joseph Maldonado-Passage, or Joe Exotic, and his feud with Big Cat Rescue owner Carole Baskin.

18 months after the docuseries first premiered, Netflix has officially confirmed its return for a second season. However, the streaming service is yet to update viewers on the new season’s release dates.

Joe Exotic, who is currently servings a 22-year prison sentence after being convicted on 17 charges of animal abuse and two counts of attempted murder for hire relating to Baskin, confirmed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He intends to participate in the new season of Tiger King in order to clear his name, according to reports.

Baskin, on the other hand, refused to take part in the new series. “The first three months after ‘Tiger King’ aired my phone rang incessantly with people screaming obscenities,” she had told Page Six. She is, however, taking part in a new spin-off documentary that focuses on bringing animal abusers to justice.

We will keep you updated with any new details on Tiger King’s new season as soon as they come out.
