Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. have proven as one of the best duos on the R&B scene since forming Silk Sonic. Their joint debut single “Leave the Door Open” returned to no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, but what the future holds for this duo after this smash hit?

Joint Album

“Leave the Door Open” is not a standalone single and it will be a part of a bigger project. It’s expected to be featured on Silk Sonic’s debut album An Evening with Silk Sonic. Not much is known about this record just yet, apart from the fact it’s supposed to come out later this year and feature the funk legend, Bootsy Collins.

Live Performances

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. were comfortable with performing by each other’s side long before “Leave the Door Open”. Paak was the opening act for Mars on his 24K Magic World Tour in 2017, and Silk Sonic has been in the making ever since. They delivered their first performance together at this year’s Grammy Awards, and it’s safe to assume there’s more on the way.

Natural and Organic

Jamming in the studio by each other’s side made the two artists realize they’re a match made in heaven, but they don’t have an agenda and simply want to make music together because they enjoy it.

“There’s no plan, just working out the parts and trying to excite each other … That’s why this wouldn’t happen if it didn’t make sense and it didn’t feel natural and organic,” Mars told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
