What’s Old is New Again: Classic Sitcoms are Being Revived

Over the past few years, we’ve seen some of our favorite old television shows revived or rebooted. Each week, it seems like another classic sitcom is announcing that a sequel is being made, which proves that what’s old is always new again. It all started with NBC’s revival of Will & Grace in 2017, Netflix’s sequel to Full House, Fuller House in 2017, and ABC’s Roseanne revival in 2018, which was followed by CBS’s Murphy Brown. Designing Women, Northern Exposure, and Bewitched were the next sitcoms that made headlines for reboots or revivals in the works.

The next reboots we have to look forward to are Gossip Girl, Saved By the Bell, Punky Brewster, and Who’s The Boss?. Gossip Girl, Saved By the Bell, and Punky Brewster were supposed to be released in 2020, but they haven’t received an official release date as production has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. Just this week, Who’s the Boss? announced that a remake is in the works with Alyssa Milano and Tony Danza reprising their roles.

All of these recent reboots and revivals leaves us wondering what’s next and what other classic television shows will come back on the air. Could there be an I Love Lucy, The Nanny, All in the Family, The Brady Brunch, or Happy Days remakes in the works? We can only hope so, but until then we’re super excited to rewatch our favorite sitcoms and catch up with the characters in the sequels.
