Whole Foods Shares Their Predictions for Biggest 2021 Food Trends

As the year slowly comes to a close, predictions for 2021 trends are popping up everywhere. Whole Foods’ list of predictions is one of the most anticipated ones in the culinary world and their trend predictions for 2021 are putting emphasis on health and wellness.

Many of the food trends they’re predicting are a reflection of the declining meat sales in the last few years. As more people shift towards a vegan diet, plant-based foods are on the rise, and Whole Foods says that we’re going to fall in love with fruit and veggie jerky and chickpea-based meals in 2021.

Whole Foods is also predicting that we’ll try to give our immune system a boost by turning to probiotics, fermented foods, and superfoods with functional ingredients. Innovations are even entering the baby food market, with a wide range of healthier options to choose from.

Upcycled foods, alternative breakfast options, cooking from scratch, and healthier plant-based oils will also be trending in 2021. When it comes to drinks, coffee is making its way into our daily lives through new flavored products, such as smoothies and granola bars. Whole Foods is also predicting that we’ll be crazy about alcoholic kombucha next year.
