Why Everyone Is Getting a Tucked Bob Right Now

It’s been a long and hot summer. If you’re already prepared to schedule a salon appointment to chop off some humidity frazzled locks and get a fresh look for fall, you might be contemplating how exactly to style that new look.

For a cut that makes a statement while looking effortless, a bob is the way to go. Bobs have been the most popular cut in the past five years, and their popularity only seems to grow this year.

Of course, bobs come in many shapes and sizes, from the A-line bob to the soft-blunt bob. But the newest variation is a blend between the 90’s crop bob and the French-girl bob. This merge resulted in the “tucked bob”.

Think sharp jaw-length bob with a bit of layering at the ends to create softness. And what about the bangs? “A grown-out fringe will soften the corner of the bob, give it a modern update,” said London-based hairstylist James Earnshaw to Glamour magazine. He paired this bob with outgrown curtain bangs, which offer face-framing, but you could also opt for baby bangs, which feel reminiscent of an old French film and give an edgy touch at the same time. The best thing about this effortlessly chic hairstyle is that it could work on a variety of hair types: with super straight hair you get a blunt, structured shape; with curly or wavy hair, the texture does its own thing to the bob.
