Floral prints are usually associated with spring and summer fashion. But this fall and winter period saw them popping up all over the place. The current winter version of florals isn’t your average bright bouquet seen in the warmer month fashion trends though. There’s a certain twist to them to become more season-appropriate. Here’s how to make florals work for the current period.

Go Grungey

Spring florals are often bright and cheerful. This season’s version isn’t necessarily gloomy but is more muted and autumnal. Opt for darker shades and more natural prints. These deeper shades will still brighten up your winter days and will show off your eye for style.

Pair with Dark Accessories

Again the trend seems focused on a general look of grunge and slight gothicness. Black lace accents are perfect to achieve this style. Black leather accessories will also work perfectly instead or at the same time.

Do a 1960s Twist

Lots of the floral looks seen across catwalks had a hint of ’60s fashion to them. Think big collars, floor-length dresses, and bold prints. Interesting silhouettes with bold sleeves and ruching also gave a nod to this decade, so incorporating these details into your floral look will gain you extra points.
