Veteran outfielder Yasiel Puig missed the entire 2020 MLB season, but his baseball career doesn’t seem to be over. Puig went on social media on Tuesday and announced that he has every intention to play in 2021.

He told his Twitter followers that he hired agents, adding that he is “ready” and “willing to put in the work.”

Puig entered 2020 as a free agent and opted not to sign with the team before the season started, saying that he wasn’t pleased with the offers he was receiving at the time. He ended up verbally agreeing to a deal with Atlanta Braves later on, but the positive COVID-19 test prevented him from actually completing the agreement.

It didn’t take long for Yasiel Puig, All-Star in 2014, to start attracting interest around the league after his announcement. According to multiple reports, Baltimore Orioles are heavy favorites to land him as they were interested in signing him earlier in the year.

Orioles will reportedly face competition from Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox, with both teams believing Puig could be a significant depth piece for them next season.

Puig played for LA Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Indians since entering the league in 2013. His MLB stats include .277 batting average, 132 homers, and 415 RBIs.
