Del Monte Foods has been working on their Pinkglow Pineapple for 15 years and it’s finally ready to hit the market. This means that you can now officially buy pink pineapple!
It may not be just in time for the pink summery cocktails, but we’re not complaining—there will be plenty of ways to use pink pineapples now that they’re available. The pineapple with pink flesh created by Del Monte was approved by the FDA back in 2016, and it’s only now that it’s hitting the stores.
As Food & Wine reported, the new product was launched on October 12th. Officially named Pinkglow Pineapples, these Del Monte Fresh Produce exclusives are available around the U.S. You can learn which retailers sell them in your area on their website. They are priced at $49 per fruit, which is a lot, but you’ll be sure you’re getting a novelty and luxurious item that looks and tastes amazing.
“The Pinkglow Pineapple is a product we are incredibly proud of—not only for its beautiful color and delicious taste, but also because of the care that went into growing and releasing it, as well as the sustainable method we’ve enacted to produce these new pink pineapples,” said vice president marketing of Fresh Del Monte, Pablo Rivero in a statement.
