Classic Pop Art Look
The traditional pop-art look is not very complicated to achieve. Draw on a few contoured lines and strategically placed dots, then finish with graphic eye shadow, lashes, and some cascading tears.

To create the comic book illusion, paint red dots covering your face and neck. Some graphic eyebrow and dramatic winged liner and there you have it – a wow effect with minimum effort.

Here at Top Pop Today, we hope to inspire you to shop from smaller brands, by introducing you to the best Etsy shops out there. Our recent find: English stationary and accessories brand Bonbi Forest.
Run by artist, Illustrator, and “shiny things maker”, Lee Foster-Wilson, the brand celebrates the healing power of nature, by focusing on naturalistic themes and floral patterns. Based in the Cornish countryside of southwestern England, where she lives by the seaside, Foster-Wilson needs only to open her window to let the inspiration in.
“I am greatly inspired by the natural world and our relationship to it, how we place our human values onto animals and mother nature,” she shared with Ballpitmag. “Nature just does its thing no matter what, we are constantly trying to control it, yet unchecked it forges on.”
Natural motifs feature throughout her products: from enamel pins and pendants to postcards. Focusing mainly on stationary, Bonbi Forest is a real treat to both illustration lovers and nature enthusiasts. “My work focuses on motifs from nature, lots of brightly colored florals and animals,” says Foster-Wilson. “I love to use limited color palettes and keep my line hand-drawn and slightly on the naive, playful side.”

]]>The past year has seen most of us sheltered at home, and with travel restrictions still taking place— the future of vacations still isn’t clear. And yet, there’s a chosen few among us who shape their reality with greater freedom, carving some time off and treating life as a playground of possibilities rather than a set of restrictions. Such is Michelle Halpern’s philosophy. An LA-based travel guru, her motto is: “Live Like it’s the Weekend”. And boy does she put her money where her mouth is.
After leaving a corporate job in fashion at the end of 2015, Halpern discovered an alternative to a 9-to-5 job: travel blogging. She has since visited over 40 countries, inspiring others to take a leap of faith and live by their own rules. “For me, living like it’s the weekend means saying yes to opportunities and invitations because I have the freedom to do so,” says Halpern. “It means taking spur-of-the-moment adventures to discover something new and beautiful because I don’t have to ask anyone else’s permission.”
Her adventures include anything from vacations on exotic shores, where the dress code is bikinis and flowy dresses, to mountain hikes, where she’s seen sporting a beanie and a pair of hiking boots. “Sometimes I feel bipolar in the things I love about travel,” she admitted in a recent Instagram post. “By now you know I love a bougie design-centric hotel or cafe, but I also love waking up at sunrise to catch the light coming up over the mountains with not a soul in sight just as much.”
Her multi faceted approach to travel also meant she had an open mind when it came to traveling in times of the pandemic. According to Halpern, 2020 has taught her to appreciate local travel (in her case, meaning California). “This year made me appreciate how much there is to explore in my own backyard and it showed me that even when travel fully opens back up again, I don’t need to take a 13-hour flight to arrive somewhere incredible,” she wrote in another blog post. “There are still so many destinations on my own California bucket list, not to mention just a short drive away in other states.”
Her optimistic approach and YOLO attitude is just the kind of energy we need in 2021.

According to Coxhead, the newspaper’s purpose is to share and celebrate positive, uplifting stories that are often overlooked in today’s society. “For many people, understanding the idea behind the newspaper is one thing,” she writes, “but experiencing what a difference it makes to see and read solely positive articles is another.”
With a following of over 300k on Instagram alone, there’s clearly a crowd for positive consumption.

The Era of Social Distancing
It’s pretty easy to figure out why drive-in-theaters are becoming so popular right now – in the era of social distancing, they’re pretty much the only option we have. We’re all tired of watching Netflix at home, and it’s still unclear when it’s going to be safe to go to regular theaters again.
Drive-ins are a safe alternative because you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your car to watch a movie. You can head there with your friends and family—or even alone—but you’ll still feel like a part of something bigger since you’re not watching a movie on your own.
Perfect for the Summer
Drive-in-theaters are primarily a summertime attraction, so it’s highly unlikely they’ll be just as popular in a few months. That doesn’t make them any less amazing, and we should enjoy them to the fullest while they’re still around.

For a while, it seemed like digitalization will make pen and paper redundant. We went through a smartphone craze with a focus on minimalism, and it seemed so convenient to have everything in the phone, organized per personal preferences.
But eventually, it turned out that nothing can really replace the feeling of being surrounded with colorful pens and using them to write in a brand new, adorable planner. There’s something about using a physical planner that makes you better organized and more focused at work and in personal life that it’s definitely worth splurging on a new one once a year and spicing it up with some much-needed accessories like stickers and paper clips.
