After the 2019/20 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic with all postseason tournaments canceled, we’re finally getting an official start date to the 2020/21 NCAA college basketball season.

On Wednesday, the NCAA Division I Council approved the return of college basketball on November 25, which is two weeks later than the usual start date. Until then, teams can’t hold scrimmage games or play exhibition games.

Some of the changes to this upcoming season will be a smaller number of tournament and teams player fewer games. To be NCAA tournament-eligible, teams will have to play a minimum of 13 games and a maximum of 27 games.

Reports have suggested that the NCAA is considering staging eight tournaments in a bubble setting similar to the way the NBA is doing it with the games being played in Disney World in Orlando.

The outlook of the NCAA men’s team has yet to be determined, but the division’s leadership wants to have 68 teams play in 14 locations or if this isn’t possible, the tournament could be held in a bubble setting.
