While men painting their nails isn’t something new — after all, David Bowie and Kurt Cobain were known for doing it — celebrity men today have been stepping it up with interesting designs.

Nail artist Mei Kawahriri, founder of Nail by Mei, said that ASAP Rocky DMed her on Instagram saying he was a huge fan and that he wanted his own manicure. ASAP Rocky had just dyed his hair green, and he wanted his nails to match his new ‘do, so Kawahriri painted a Frankenstein and Dennis Rodman design backstage at Madison Square Garden for the rapper.

Kawahriri also worked with rapper Travis Scott backstage at a fashion shoot. Although the rapper was hesitant about having nail art at first, the two agreed upon old English lettering for each nail that spelled out his name and he liked the finished product.

Another nail artist, Britney Tokyo, has also worked with celebrity clients, specifically singer Harry Styles, since 2016. 

“I get creative keywords and color palettes from him [Harry Styles],” says Tokyo. “And he tells me to do whatever I want, like I could do Japanese Omakase style.”

The trend seems to be popular among men in Hollywood, but will it be seen in everyday life? We’ll have to wait and see!

Girls around the world went crazy for it after Lizzo posted a few short videos of her makeup, jewelry, and nails on her Instagram Stories on December 6th. Her nails look lovely with a neutral, white polish topped with a peculiar finish known as “milky.” It got us curious and we checked; there are currently over 21,000 Instagram posts tagged #milkynails and the number just keeps growing.

From what we see, the look can be achieved in a number of techniques in any good salon. Some nail artist use acrylic powder, others do it with gel polish, while some combine the two techniques. Nail artist Victoyria told Allure that “the process was very simple since it is colored acrylic. I laid that one color and topped it with a gel topcoat. A lot of people like using polish to create a milky white look, but I prefer acrylic.”

A few months ago, a woman became famous as she gave her pet turtle a manicure and shared the photo online.

Although a lot of people will roll their eyes at this, animal lovers all around the world are still sharing their posts as they get matching manicures with their pets.

Take, for one, Cristi Hanzel from Littlerock, CA. The 19 year old went out to have her nails done. After that, she proceeded to Target to purchase some nail caps for her pet cat, Wednesday.

According to Cristi, she named her pet after Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family, because they’re both sassy. As if it were fate, she found some purple caps which were almost identical to her freshly manicured nails.

Cristi then shared the photo of their matching nails on Twitter and it was immediately retweeted by another user who wrote, “How I’m trying to be” in the caption. After that, Cristi and Wednesday became instant beauty icons as over 70,000 users liked their photo.

They also started a trend where cat and dog owners started getting matching manicures and sharing their photos on Twitter and Instagram.

One important thing to keep in mind, though, is that you shouldn’t paint your pet’s claws with nail polish as it’s toxic. Instead, use colored nail caps and try to find ones which match your manicure closely.
