The post Olivia Rodrigo’s Latest “SNL” Performance Was Epic appeared first on toppoptoday.com.
]]>2023 has been another amazing year for Olivia Rodrigo, and she brought it to a close by serving as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Her second SNL performance brought some amazing moments our way, and here are three that got everyone talking.
Rodrigo kicked off her time on SNL with an emotional rendition of her power ballad “Vampire”, which did a great job setting the stage for her sophomore album Guts. This stripped-down piano performance put her vocals on full display since she did it all on her own, without backing vocals or other instruments in the background.
Rodrigo opted for a completely different approach with the pop-punk-inspired song “All American B—h”. She channeled the song’s messy energy by smashing cakes and dancing on tables, delivering a true masterclass in female rage that defined many songs on Guts.
Rodrigo made such a huge impact as a musician that it’s easy to forget she actually got her big break as an actress. She put her career in Hollywood on the backburner but got a chance to flex her acting muscles in a hilarious sketch about tiny bags, alongside the host Adam Driver and SNL stars Ego Nwodim and Marcello Hernández.

]]>Bad Bunny did a great job pulling double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend—and he was in great company. His episode featured some pretty amazing cameos, and here are three stars who joined him on stage and made his time on SNL even more memorable.
Bad Bunny’s opening monologue started off pretty great, and it got even better when Pedro Pascal joined him on stage to jokingly translate a part of his monologue. He also did the intro for the rapper’s “Monaco” performance and joined him in one of the most talked-about sketches of the night, Protective Mom 2.

It’s been years since Mick Jagger hit the Saturday Night Live stage, but he finally made an epic comeback this Saturday. The Rolling Stones’ frontman assisted the Puerto Rican singer in two amazing sketches—Telenovela and Convent Meeting.
Lady Gaga, who recently collaborated with The Rolling Stones on the song “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” from their new album Hackney Diamonds, was also one of the A-list stars present during Bad Bunny’s episode. She introduced the singer ahead of the performance of “Un Preview”, one of the singles from his recent album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana.

]]>After a lot of anticipation, Saturday Night Live returned this weekend, with the show’s alum Pete Davidson serving as its host. His SNL comeback produced several pretty memorable sketches, and we’re bringing you five moments that got everyone talking.
Barbie gave us one of its most popular songs with “I’m Just Ken” and Pete Davidson couldn’t resist filming his own parody, poking fun at this reputation and the trajectory of his career after he left SNL behind.
Pete Davidson never had any trouble making waves with his stand-up performances, and he brought his signature brand of humor to his monologue.
With the NFL season in full swing, it’s not a shocker to see SNL doing a parody of Fox’s media coverage. One thing that took us by surprise was Travis Kelce making a surprise cameo to address the excessive coverage of his rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift attending the Kansas City Chiefs’ games.
Travis Kelce’s cameo wasn’t the only one to go viral on social media following the SNL season premiere. Taylor Swift also popped up for a brief moment to announce the performance of her “Karma” collaborator Ice Spice.

]]>Everyone’s been talking about Squid Game and the South Korean drama blew up. Even though it was released about a month ago, it has become Netflix’s most-watched show. And not surprisingly, Saturday Night Live has done a parody of the show, and it happens to be to a country song. The sketch stars Rami Malek and Pete Davidson and it’s epic!
Davidson plays Gi-hun, whose financial issues led him to play the deadly game. He starts with his signature platinum blonde hair and then he dyes his hair red at the end of the song, just like the character does. Malek plays Sang-woo, his competition.
Nothing is left out in the song—there’s the impressive, colorful set and the iconic guard and player outfits. Even the games are played which include Red Light, Green Light, dalgona, and glass bridge. And of course, the creepy doll from Red Light, Green Light makes an appearance. The best part is the whole thing is done to a really catchy tune. Expect for “That’s what happens in the Squid Game” to be stuck in your head for a while.
Just beware—the sketch pretty much gives away the whole show, so don’t watch it unless you’ve finished it or don’t plan on watching it.

]]>Kim Kardashian West made her Saturday Night Live hosting debut and it went much better than we anticipated it would be. Kardashian West opened the show wearing a bright pink bodysuit and she made edgy jokes about her family and past. The night was pretty funny and these were the most memorable sketches of the night, that people are talking about.
Kardashian West appeared in an Aladdin-themed flying carpet sketch, playing Jasmine opposite Pete Davidson as Aladdin. While flying together, he asks her about past boyfriends and they make some steamy comments regarding wishes from Genie (Bowen Yang).
Kim portrayed her sister, Judge Kourtney Kardashian, in The People’s Kourt sketch, a spoof of The People’s Court. Khloe Kardashian made a cameo as the defendant and Kris Kenner came to press charges against her daughter Kendall Jenner for having “no drama”. Melissa Villaseñor played Kylie, Chris Redd played Kanye, Kenan Thompson appeared as the defendant, Heidi Gardner impersonated Kim (in a mask), Mikey Day was Kourtney’s boyfriend Travis Barker, and Pete Davidson was his friend Machine Gun Kelly.
In this Bachelorette-type dating show, Kardashian West played the eligible lady with potential suitors including John Cena, Blake Griffin, Chace Crawford, and Chris Rock. Amy Schumer, Jesse Williams, Tyler Cameron from The Bachelor, and NBA star Blake Griffin also had cameos.

]]>The post New Season of “Saturday Night Live” Kicks Off with Some Amazing Hosts appeared first on toppoptoday.com.
]]>Saturday Night Live is coming back for Season 47 this weekend, and we already know who’ll be hosting it all month long. The legendary sketch show unveiled the first rooster of hosts and musical guests, and here’s what we can expect from them.
Wilson will make his hosting debut after experiencing somewhat of a career renaissance following his appearance in the Disney+ series Loki. He’s a veteran comedian, so it makes a lot of sense to have him host, especially since his next movie The French Dispatch is just around the corner.
Some were confused by SNL’s decision to have Kardashian host since she’s not a natural comedian, but she won’t be the first host with no comedy background. The show poked fun of her on countless occasions in the past, so it will be fun to see her get the last laugh.
Picking Malek as SNL host makes total sense since he’s currently busy promoting No Time to Die. He’s not known for his work as a comedian, but he has one Oscar under his belt so we’re pretty sure he’ll do just fine.
It’s a shocker that Jason Sudeikis never returned to host SNL since his departure, but his return comes at the perfect time. He recently won an Emmy for his work on Ted Lasso, and it will be a true delight to see him back at 30 Rock.

]]>Anya Taylor-Joy finally made her Saturday Night Live hosting debut last Saturday and all we could think about was her amazing fashion choices. While her opening monologue and comic sketches were on-point, we can’t stop thinking about all of her fabulous outfits. She wore not one, not two, but five stunning looks during the show!
For her opening monologue, she took the stage in a white Peter Do slip dress with a feathered shoulder and paired it with Tiffany & Co. diamonds and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. Throughout the show, her outfits became more daring and fashion-forward including a red mini puff dress by Molly Goddard, a leopard print Brandon Maxwell maxi slip dress with a matching face mask, a gingham set from Philosophy, and a Vietta blazer dress. All of which her stylist Law Roach documented throughout the night.
Taylor-Joy has had an exciting year, starring in Netflix’s Queen’s Gambit, for which she won a Golden Globe and a SAG. She also starred in Emma, which earned her a nomination.
The show was the season finale and it had the first full and fully vaccinated audience since the start of the pandemic.

]]>Curious about what went down on the most recent episode of SNL hosted by Elon Musk and starring Miley Cyrus as the musical guest but don’t want to bother watching the whole episode? No worries; here are the sketches that are worth watching.
The premise of this sketch is so universally relatable that it’s pretty much impossible not to enjoy it. What is socializing going to be like when we can do it again after the Coronavirus stops making us all be alone all the time? Let SNL show you their best guess.
One of SNL’s classic TV show parodies, this Gen Z version of General Hospital puts the spotlight on Gen Z culture, style, and especially slang. If you’re still struggling to catch up with what the cool, young kids are up to, you’ll find this one both enlightening and hilarious. And if you’re Gen Z yourself, you’ll probably cringe at seeing how you’re perceived. Deadass.
Pete Davidson’s deadpan Chad character has become a modern SNL favorite with his careless attitude and “okay” catchphrase. The newest Chad sketch which sees him go to space does not disappoint. Never change, Chad.

]]>With the release of her sophomore album Future Nostalgia this year, Dua Lipa had one of the best years of any musician in the industry, despite having put out her album in March, right as COVID-19 was sweeping through the industry like a tornado. Now up for two Grammy awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, Dua Lipa is still promoting her album, making the rounds on various television and YouTube shows.
Most notably, Dua performed on Saturday Night Live‘s episode last week hosted by Kristen Wiig and she absolutely killed it. Singing her two hits “Don’t Start Now” and “Levitating,” Lipa absolutely owned the stage, performing with a confidence and presence that she’s surely developed over the past year since the release of “Don’t Start Now” as the lead single of Future Nostalgia.
During “Levitating,” Lipa wore a floaty hat that resembled a jellyfish, staying still as it danced around her head. That’s in contrast to the choreography she absolutely slayed during “Don’t Stop Now.” What versatility! Her vocals were as deep, rich, and impressive as ever. They’re definitely must-see performances.

]]>When Adele announced she was making her Saturday Night Live hosting debut, we all expected great things from her—and she certainly delivered. The British singer didn’t even have to debut any new songs to draw an audience, and these three sketches immediately went viral online.
One of the things that we adore about Adele is her self-deprecating sense of humor and it was on full display in this spoof of The Bachelor. To make the whole thing even better, she spent the entire sketch breaking into a song and performed bits and pieces of her biggest hits.
Kate McKinnon was so amazing in this sketch that SNL fans want Madame Vivelda to become a recurring character, and her comedic chemistry with Adele was truly amazing. This bit is universally funny and relatable if you had high hopes for 2020 that fell apart in the face of the global pandemic.
Adele opened her monologue by saying “Hello, it’s me” and continued by joking about her physical transformation that made the headlines in the last few months. She also confirmed that her new album isn’t finished yet, but we’re hoping that she’ll come back as a musical guest once it is.
