Josh McCown will no longer be Philadelphia Eagles’ stay-at-home quarterback. According to McCown’s agent Mike McCartney, the veteran quarterback agreed to a deal with Houston Texans and will join the team’s active roster.

Back in September, McCown agreed to remain with the Eagles for the 2020 season, but wasn’t actually with the team. He remained at home, working out and practicing by himself while taking part in team meetings via Zoom.

This worked out for both sides, as the Eagles had an emergency quarterback in case that Carson Wentz or some of his backups get tested positive for coronavirus or get injured. The 41-year-old McCown, on the other hand, was able to still be in the league but without all the pressure that comes with being a player in the NFL.

By signing with Houston, Josh McCown will most likely have to suit up for team practices and be a lot more involved than he was earlier in the season. Still, he will still get to sleep in his bed as he lives in Texas.

Throughout his NFL career, McCown suited up for nine different franchises, including the Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and NY Jets. He completed 60.2 career passes while throwing for 17,731 yards and 98 touchdowns.
