India is a kaleidoscope of experiences. Its culture is deep-rooted in traditions and customs. Every corner tells a story, every festival is a spectacle, and every dance form is an expression of the soul. It is also home to many historical marvels. From the majestic Taj Mahal to the ancient ruins of Hampi, the architectural wonders of India are both awe-inspiring and enlightening. And importantly for many, it’s a place of spiritual awakening and the birthplace of several religions.
Dua Lipa visited India with her family. Her Instagram posts reveal moments of joy as she sipped tea, encountered wildlife, admired ancient architecture, and enjoyed quality family time. In her candid caption, she expressed profound gratitude for the love, kindness, and hospitality showered upon them by the people of India. And yes, it does inspire us to start packing our bags.

Travel bloggers know best. As we look forward to our next vacation here at Top Pop Today, we take note of some of the biggest, most prominent bloggers. Most recently we’ve tuned into Brooke Saward’s travel blog, World of Wanderlust. Amassing a staggering half a million followers on Instagram alone, Saward’s platform offers tips, hacks, and advice that will upgrade your vacation.
Originally from Tasmania, Australia, this past year Saward’s travels have been reduced to more local adventures. According to the seasoned traveler, 90% of her travels have been on her own, documenting her trips and capturing the scenery by herself. A solo-traveler enthusiast, Saward says that traveling solo means sharpening your problem-solving skills.
“The scariest part is actually booking the ticket,” she remarked once in an interview with Redbrick. “When you land, you will quickly become a problem-solver and there’s nothing you can’t overcome”.
“Before I started travelling solo I was a very shy, introverted person,” admits Saward. “But when you are forced into situations that you need to figure out yourself (often with limited time), you really grow into yourself and come out of your shell. Solo travel is single-handedly the best thing I have done in my life so far.”
The advantages of solo traveling are great and include stepping out of your comfort zone, having more freedom to do as you wish, and getting to know yourself better. Looking to give it a try? Head, first, to World of Wanderlust’s solo travel guides, and follow Saward on Instagram for some travel inspiration.

If you still don’t feel safe boarding an airplane and visiting far-away destinations, which is totally normal, planning a domestic trip is a great idea. There are probably many wonderful places within a day’s drive you still haven’t had a chance to visit, so now is the perfect opportunity.
Even if you’re vaccinated, it’s important to keep in mind that travel is not perfectly safe yet. Safety should still be our main concern which is why toe-dip trips will be popular this season. Staying closer to home and traveling by car is the perfect choice if you haven’t traveled in a while and want to restore confidence in travel.
So where exactly are people planning their toe-dip trips? This depends on where you live and it can include everything from traveling to a nearby mountain, lake, or resort to trying new activities such as paddle boarding or scuba diving.

Most of us can’t wait to pack our bags and travel somewhere this summer, which is why we definitely won’t mind splurging on our upcoming trips. People are willing to spend more money on travel this year, which includes luxurious destinations and unforgettable experiences.
After more than a year of social distancing and quarantine, it’s only natural that people who can afford to travel this summer are planning longer holidays. Weekend trips won’t be as popular this summer because we’ll need more time to relax and recharge our batteries.
Local and regional tourism is more popular than ever and that’s not going to change anytime soon. This pandemic has taught us that being a tourist in your own country is a great feeling. There are definitely many amazing local places you haven’t visited yet and this summer is the perfect opportunity to explore your country.

One reason for this is “flygskam” or flight shame, a social movement that aims to convince people not to fly in order to reduce the environmental impact of commercial flights. The movement started in 2018 in Sweden and spread around Europe.
We got to see how much healthier our planet can be without as many flights when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Suddenly, many people are second-guessing if flying is really the best way to reach certain destinations, and out of all the alternatives, trains can offer the most.
Traveling by train is safe, relatively fast, and can be very comfortable. You can sit, sleep, or walk around the train, there’s no traffic, there are no seatbelts. Good wi-fi, food options, and toilet availability can make you forget you’re even traveling.
There are no huge fees for excess luggage and train stations are typically located in the city center, unlike airports that leave you miles away from your destination.

Working outside of the office has become a lifestyle for many of us but there’s no reason to be stuck at home all the time. Working and traveling is not just for freelancers anymore so you can start thinking about exploring new places next year while working from hotels, cafes, and beach bars.
Many people will be reluctant to travel far away in 2021 and instead choose to spend their vacations close to home, exploring their home towns and nearby places. This can be a very good thing from the ecological point of view but also for supporting local businesses and learning more about the culture of the place where you live.
Travelers will search for new adventures and one way to do that will be looking for unusual accommodation. Sleeping in treehouses, rustic apartments, and cottages will soon become more popular than staying at hotels and modern city apartments.

]]>We’ll remember 2020 for not being able to travel. This affected some people more than others, but there are those who miss flying so much they’re taking flights to nowhere. How does this work and why is it even a trend?
It’s a weird but popular request these days to book a flight that goes nowhere. People get on a plane, take off, have a meal and drink, and land at the same airport a few hours later. These flights are happening all over the world but seem to be especially popular in Asian countries like Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan.
The tickets can cost more than $2,500 for business class flights and some flights are over 12 hours long. How weird is it that people are willing to pay so much just to fly and land back at the same spot?
The actual flight is nobody’s favorite part of travel, but when it’s impossible to go to another country, try different food, and meet new cultures, apparently people will be satisfied with whatever they can get. This is, of course, bad for the environment because it promotes pointless carbon emissions. Since the pandemic started, we’ve seen many positive effects that came from the lack of travel and flying a big plane just for the sake of flying simply can’t be justified.

One of the most prominent new trends among Chinese travelers is island traveling. According to ITB China Travel Trends Report, the most popular travel themes in China in 2020 and 2021 will include trips to islands, outdoors and natural landscapes, and medical-related tours.
As travelers all around the world, Chinese tourists are worried about their health and safety as the “new normal” travel sets in. They find it important for airports and other places to follow all the sanitary measures to help keep people safe.
Other travel trends among Chinese people include business travel and self-driving tours. “After the outbreak, travelers may prefer outbound products focusing on safety, health, and wellbeing, while the demand for natural landscapes and customized travel will also increase,” said He Yong, President of HCG Travel Group.
It’s important that the travel industry starts preparing for next year as many people are impatient to return to their previous habits as soon as possible.
