An American currently living in Tokyo, Katie documents her experiences through her social media platforms and food blog. With a special emphasis on food and Japanese desserts in particular, Katie’s Instagram page promises to satisfy your sweet tooth.
“Two of my favorite things are exploring the world experiencing different cultures, and enjoying a variety of delicious culinary creations,” writes Katie on her website. “I travel near and far looking for the best food, drinks, and services. I hope I can point you in the right direction to good eats and great businesses on your own journey.”
Her blog also includes some tasty challenges, like The Japanese Kit Kat Project where she rates the many different Kit Kats Japan has to offer. “Kit Kats are very popular in Japan,” explained Katie, “so popular, that many new special and unique flavors of Kit Kats are released all the time. There have been over 300 flavors released since 2000! They became a popular treat to give out to encourage people, since the name sounds close to Kitto Kattsu (きっと勝つ- you will surely win).” The Kit Kats are organized by type, Katie’s personal rating (and a second opinion from another person), and the location she purchased them.
In another blog post, Katie takes on the Tokyo Pancake Quest—a stamp rally where you visit different restaurants in Tokyo that offer pancakes (because… why not?).”The quest was not easy, but it was pretty fun!” she concludes, “I loved seeing how each café interpreted the challenge.”

]]>Fashion company Louis Vuitton will soon open its first restaurant in the world, in Japan’s city of Osaka. The restaurant will be located at their new flagship boutique called Le Café V, and it will have an exciting menu designed by chef Yosuke Suga. The exclusive place will feature a big terrace and a bar.
The opening of the restaurant was confirmed by the company’s CEO Michael Burke, who also hinted there will be more exciting news in the future, which was confirmed by Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH.
“The future of luxury will not only be in luxury goods, as it’s been for many years, but also in luxury experiences, and we want to be in both segments,” Arnault told Evening Standard.
The company has plans to open more restaurants around the world, and possibly even hotels at some point.
The boutique in Osaka will open its doors on February 1st and the restaurant will open on the 15th.

]]>2020 is going to be a great year for Studio Ghibli fans. First we learned that most of their movies will be available for streaming on HBO Max soon, and now we have more exciting news: the studio will release two brand new movies this year.
Studio Ghibli released a New Year’s statement in which they informed the public about their recent accomplishments and future plans.
“Studio Ghibli continues to work on two new films. Also, Ghibli Park has started in earnest, so we hope to be able to deliver a lot of excitement this year,” the statement reads.
The studio is keeping their new releases under a veil of mystery for now. All we know is that one of them is being directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the famous co-founder of Ghibli who came out of retirement in 2016. Its title is Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?) and the story follows 15-year-old boy Koperu and his uncle. The movie has already been in development for a few years and we can’t wait to finally see it.

Some creative people in Japan figured they could combine two desserts into one, so they created souffle pancakes. The ingredients are pretty much the same as those for regular pancakes, but you do need to know a few tricks in order to make them just right.
The most important thing about souffle pancakes is to separate the egg whites from the yolks. Beat the egg whites separately from the batter and gently add them in the end.
Another thing that makes souffle pancakes be what they are is covering the pan with the lid while cooking them. That way the heat will stay trapped and thoroughly cook your pancakes, even though they are so thick!
